Unfortunately my mapping does not show too much detail but the flags mark about the route we took on a tour today.
We arrived at Ruse/Russe/Rouse at about 6.30 this morning and docket while coffee was being consumed. Our land excursion ( follow that bus) was to head for V.Tarnovo for lunch and then visit a church and then meet the boat at Svishtov. A wonderful day in the country. Beautiful rolling hills and lush farmland. We even saw a stork sitting on it's nest..a good luck charm. Lots of old Russian cars on the road and also a fair share of horses and carts. We visited a small store that had lots of products made from roses. A very big industry here in Bulgaria. The rose aqua-vie took the back of my throat and turned it inside out but there was also candy, jam and lots of other products.
Back on board now and looking forward to going through the Iron Gate tomorrow. Have to handle a time change tonight so off to bed.
