Ready for the road today. This morning we transfer from 3 Turkish buses to 2 Bulgarian buses. Off we go in bright green and a bright red Mercedes. The spot on the photo is a sticker on the window. you will see more of it. Lovely countryside and village streets lined with trees. But we have to remember that we are behind the old iron curtain. Life was not what we are used to and acomodations were communist build to no standards. Passing through Varna there were many examples of apartment buildings that would have been condemmed centuries ago in North America. The odd church dominates some towns and they are well maintained. We stopped in Russe on the border of Romania for lunch. I have to say that they were not the fastest bunnies and we had to gobble our sandwiches to get back to the bus on time. Driving to the border we passed a natural gas pipeline. Nobody dared to even think of making a spark. At that point we entered Romania and saw more beautiful countryside before getting to the outskirts of Bucharest and seeing a super structure housing gypsies. Then on to the Marriott where we will spend 2 nights. There will not be a blog tomorrow because the Marriott wants too much money for a daily internet connection. I will catch up the next day on the boat ( I hope, unless Dracula gets me tomorrow)
